Recipe Challenge Monday! Celebrate your heritage!

It't time for another Recipe Challenge!  This week we are celebrating our heritage and what better day (for me!) than Columbus Day to  celebrate with one of my favorite Italian dishes, Chicken Florentine.  I love spinach!  Julie has added all sorts of new food-themed items to her store, under their own category so if you are looking for some food themed scrapbook items you will find lots of inspiration.

One of the papers in her store is this really pretty green paper with spices and it reminded me so much of spinach!  I paired the paper with the pretty red and green flowers, brads and pearls.


I am in simple mode lately with my creations!  Hope you do not mind!  Be sure to check out the other challenge participants.  I always  love seeing what they have come up with! and my recipe book is fillling up!! yay!!

Pendant Park

I love this set from Stampin Up, and I just had to case this card made by Emma. I decided to use the in color Rich Razzleberry. Once I figured out the measurements it came together very quickly! Inside I stamped two of the other images from the set, the sentiment and the oh so cute park bench with the squirrels.

The card is a 4 1/4" square, which means it will fit in a normal A2 envelope without extra postage! I love doing square cards and that makes this even better!

Its a Busy Beauties Launch Blog Hop!

Two years ago when I entered SCS Land, one of the first people I met in a card swap was Carolyn!  I have been following her creative journey ever since and was quite honored when she asked me to participate in a blog hop announcing the launch of her new venture, Busy Beauties!

Carolyn gave us such wonderful images to choose from! I decided to go with a fall theme, thinking of my daughter who is getting ready for mid-terms, and chose this image, Back2School Beauty.  All the images I have seen so far as so cute, so gorgeous and so detailed for coloring!

To highlight the image, I kept the card simple and went with a long and narrow format.  I drew the frame with a pen, and used dimensionals for the image.  The image is colored with pencils..and yes, the sentiment is a bit crooked (I knew I should have used that stampamajig!)

Notecard Holder Tutorial with Annabelle Stamps

Hi everyone!! For this week's project with Annabelle Stamps, I made a little Notecard Holder and 3x3 notecards.  These are so handy to have around for those last minute gifts!  I used the set Helen's Party, and chose to decorate the holder with the balloon and flower stamps.  Here are some instructions for the holder.  These are borrowed from SCS and you can find the original here.

• Start with two pieces of DSP:
• one 3 1/4" by 7 1/2" that you will decorate for the front/back.
• one 2 1/4  by 8 1/2" that will form the holder for the cards
• Use a piece of cardstock 1" by 8" for the handle along with cardstock for stamping and embellishments.
  
• Score the 3 1/4 by 7 1/2" of cardstock  3 1/4" from each end.
• Use a fancy corner punch to embellish the corners.
• Decorate the front as desired.  In my example, I cut a piece of cardstock 3 1/4 by 1 1/4 and used the flower stamp from the set to create a flower border.  I also stamped the balloon and cut it out with nestabilities.  I cut the top of the flower border by hand to give it some personality around the flowers.
• Score the 2 1/4" x 8 1/2" piece of card stock at 1 5/8", 2 5/8", 5 7/8", and 6 7/8". This insert creates sides for the holder.
• There are 1” sections on the scored cardstock. Find the center of each, and use a paper piercing tool to make a hole where the brad will attach the paper handle.
• Apply adhesive to the cardstock strip as shown.
  

• To adhere the scored strip to the holder, line up one of the short panels with the bottom and the edge of the holder. Then secure the long panel to the back of the holder.
  Finish by folding in the remaining short panel. Adhering the panels in this order helps keep the edges lined up.

• Attach the handle with brads.
• Create a set of 3x3 note cards to put inside.

Fleur de Lis Ornament

What can I say?? This is a beautiful design by Becca that has a tutorial over at SCS (Fleur De Lis ornament). It uses the Fleur de lis die from Spellbinders, and has an empty ribbon spool in the center. Once I figured it out it came together pretty quickly! I am going to teach this at my monthly class Tuesday....2 spots left if you want to come! I am going to bring extra kits...this is going to be popular!

Time to bake!

This is the cutest penguin!!  This is an image from The Stamping Boutique that I colored with some borrowed Copics.  I thought this would make a great little tag for a plate of cookies around the holidays!

Stef provided a sketch challenge at SNR and I used that sketch for the layout, just changing it up to a 4" square and adding a ribbon in the corner. The holidays will be here before we know it!  Yay for cookies!

Angels Landing Wednesday: The Colors of Autumn

 Growing up my favorite colors were yellow and orange.  In fact, I used to love to wear yellow because people would always say I looked good in that color! (boy, has it been a LONG time since anyone said I looked good in anything!  haha!)

Anyway, this week's challenge to the Angels Landing Design Team was right up my alley! Use the colors of autumn.  I chose this image from the Autumn Tweetings set, and printed it on Neenah ivory paper.  I colored it with Prismacolor pencils and blended with OMS, adding a bit of glitter pen.

Layering was easy! Just layered the image on orange and yellow.  You can barely tell, but I used a Fiskars embossing plate to dry emboss the bottom orange layer.  I had purchased these plates a few years ago when I got back into stamping to be used with this hand held doo-hickey for dry embossing...boy that did NOT work!  So I tried them out in my BigShot and they work just as well as the Stampin Up embossing plates.  I like the subtle effect!

and that ribbon was from my stash;  I had purchased it because I love the colors!

Inside I printed a sentiment from the same set, and layered it on yellow and orange as well.  I really love these colors!!

Recipe Challenge Monday! Time to bake!!

It's Monday and time for another Recipe Challenge!  Today Julie asked us to bake...easy for me! I love to bake!! Julie has added lots of new cooking related items to her store so I chose this vintage looking paper to create a pocket for the recipe cards that I found online.  I added some bling from her store, along with some images using some Crafty Secrets stamps.

 

I like quick, and when I found these recipes online I was all over it!  Wish I could find the original place for these recipes....when I do I will post them!  Check out the other DT members and get ready to bake!

World Cardmaking Day with Annabelle Stamps!

If you are coming from the Paper Crafts Blog tour, welcome!! So exciting to have over 300 blogs participating and celebrating the cards we create! I am posting this a bit early, as Saturday is the office World Cardmaking Day!

and to show just how global stamping is, let's have an international twist using an Australian Stamp Company, Annabelle Stamps!

Today we celebrate all we love about card making, and I love new stamps!

Today's card uses the set Swirl Tree from Annabelle Stamps. There are many 16 stamps this set, and I chose to hang stars from the tree. I stamped the tree using Memento Tuxedo Black on Neenah White, then colored with prismacolor pencils, and blended with OMS. I stamped the stars on another scrap piece, colored with a yellow AtyouSpica pen, cut out and mounted on the tree using dimensionals.

There are also several sentiments in the set, so I chose one for the inside and added a star as well!
