Van Gogh-ish

I saw this technique challenge the other day on the Starving Artistamps blog and thought it looked like fun! It highlights a technique from Technique Junkies called Van Gogh. It is really easy, and I thought that my Doodle Factory stamps would be a great way to try! Both the background stamp and the giraffe are from Doodle Factory; the monkey is a little clipart I added.

Basically, you color your image with the lightest color and then add dotted highlights with other colors. I used my SU! markers, but I really think this would be great with Copics so I will probably try this technique again on another card with those!

I am in a swap with my swapping friends at SCS with a Zoo Animals theme, so I may work this into my card for that swap. Be sure to check out the different cards on the Starving Artist Stamps blog and if you are a TJ subscriber, in their gallery! There are lots of wonderful works of art to see!

paper: SU!
technique: Van Gogh, using SU! Markers

This is a very interesting technique and you did a wonderful job! I bet it would be fun with Copics and I just might give it a try. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Lauri!

Hope you are feeling better! This is a great card, and I love the technique. I've neve seen it before, but I'm freally wanting to try this now. I'd love to have some copics, and I'm seriously thinking about biting the bullet and getting a few. They scare me a bit, though. First and foremost, the price!!;-O Anyway, enough rambling from me! Love your card!!!

I love the colouring technique you've used, I'll certainly have a bash at that myself

I love this! Great job with coloring this scene!! And I love how you popped the giraffe right out there in the middle. I just colored up a Doodle Factory scene myself last night...what blast! HUGS
