Let's go to school

Like so many other people, I love new office and school supplies, and love walking through stores looking at all the notebooks, and pens and pencils. I am a bit of a pen hoarder, always in search of the perfect pen! So this time of year is a lot of fun for me, looking at what new stuff is out there and remembering how much fun it always was to go shopping when school started. I tried to remember what we did when I was back in school and we did not have backpacks! Back in the sixties and seventies...how did we carry our books??? A wagon would have been great! I had a wagon like this too.

I also remember back in the 60's going to Sears when they had a dress sale, something like 3 dresses for $8 and I would get a few new dresses; girls did not wear pants back then! Dresses all year long! So when I saw this set from Pink Persimmon, it really hit home....ankle socks, barrettes and a wagon. This is a fun set, it comes with all sorts of images you can put in the wagon!

I colored this with colored pencils and odorless mineral spirits, and layered the books and the girl for some depth. For the sidewalk, I used a distressed image stamp from Tim Holz stamped on kraft paper. I also love this paper pack from Basic Grey called Cupcake. I embossed the dsp with a cuttlebug folder, although it is a little tough to see.

Now that I have totally dated myself....hope your back to school memories are good ones!

stamps: Pink Persimmon
paper: Basic Grey Cupcake, SU! cardstock
technique: Kohinor pencils, OMS
accessories: buttons, brads, ribbon, Hodgepodge hardware

I'm proud to say that I remember those days too. Dresses, and pigtails with matching ribbons, red wagons, and oh, the feel and smell of those new crayons!! Of course it had to be a pack of 64 with the sharpener! I think I was an addict waaaaay back then! ;-) Thanks for the memories! That's one awesome card when it can bring back all that! Thanks for sharing!!

Thanks for the walk down memory lane! I went to Catholic schools, so it was always the same outfit every day. . .navy blue pants, white shirt, navy tie. LOL Those were the days. Cute image on your card! Best, Curt

I think I became a teacher partly b/c of my love of back to school shopping :)

Love the retro feel of your card! Good luck in your quest for the perfect pen!

omg - I love this!!! she reminds me of the Dick and Jane characters. so there, I REALLY dated my bad self! you did a beautiful job with this!

I am not familiar with this stamp company (shock - a company I don't know about yet!! grins!!) so will have to google them and investigate. I can see her leading her wagon right up my sidewalk......

and I collect different colored pens and baby clippies from the school suplly aisle.......
