A Friendly Card

I had a few minutes today to try yesterday's Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS. We were supposed to created out own Designer Paper. I am not sure I really met the challenge; I feel like I really just created a background! Anyway....I love yellow and love the color combination on this card. I simply used a Inkadinkadoo stamp and embellished the paper a bit with marker polka dots.

I also did the Technique Lovers Challenge by stacking the ribbons. So easy..and such a cute result! I did a bit of stamping on the envelope as well. Because I used black cardstock and envelope, I used Colorbox Chalk Ink and I think it worked well.

TFL!

Colorful Castles

Lest you think I am too too crazy, with this card I have also started participating in the Stamp-Shack challenges! This is their monthly Sketch Challenge #6, and I loved pulling out this very old stamp. I think I used this as the invitation for my daughter's 4th birthday party (that was 14 years ago!) It was so much fun coloring it and doing all the colors. If you could not already tell..I love love love colors, especially yellow!

SCS Inspiration Challenge Blue and Brown Bird

Ever make a card and really really really not like it?? Well, this is one of those from me. I thought about throwing it out and starting all over again, but said...what the heck!! I tried to think very differently about this inspiration challenge from SCS. and I came up with an approach using stamping on paint chips. I lurked through the local large home store, and picked up some paint chips of various browns and blue. I cut up the brown ones to mimic the trees, and then stamped a little bird on various blues using Stazon ink. I guess my vision was better in my head!! Here is my card!

So, I had to buy the sentiment...and then had to buy a martini stamp to go with it...then I found the background stamp...and then one day while on a weekend trip found the martini vellum paper and...after sitting in a pile on my desk for about a month, voila! A Sketch Challenge that fit the bill!

Happy Weekend to everyone!

Longing for sunshine and nice weather, I pulled out my Hambo stamp and some blue papers and off we went! I liked adding the ribbon and fiber to the bottom. I have a lot of fiber I had purchased last year to make jewelry, and I like the way it adds to the ribbon so I will have to experiment with it more. Have a good day!

I came as close to the challenge colors as I could; I would use the blue and green together but would have never thought of the brown!

And I am a new Stickles users so I just had to try them out....this was fun to color with my pencils on the nasty rainy cold dreary we had yesterday. Thanks for taking a look!

Heartfelt Butterflies

I was inspired by this weeks' Inspiration Challenge on April's Blog to create a card with the Papertrey Butterfly Wishes stamps. These stamps are beautiful! Not sure my card do them justice, although the card is prettier in real life than in my photograph.

These stamps would look nice on acetate as well. I think I see some Easter/Spring card in my future!

Thanks everyone!

Keys to a Happy Life

Keys to a Happy Life
Originally uploaded by lauriloo2007
About a month ago, I ordered this stamp from River City Rubber Works because I loved the sentiment (especially the "never refuse dessert" part). I combined this with a Hero Arts Summer Daisy stamp I bought a Joann's on clearance.

Once again, my Marvy markers came in handy to color both stamps. The background paper is from DCWV (Glitter and Bright Mat Stacks).

I made this as a card, but I think this sentiment is something I will make into additional pieces for framing. What do you think?

From the same HOTP Botanicals stamp set, I used Marvy markers to color the stamp. I first started using markers years ago to color stamps so I could color specific parts of the stamp as I liked. This stamp allows you to either (1) stamp a flower on the stem or (2) add a Prima flower embellishment, as I did here!

In the mail yesterday, I received a surprise...I forgot I had ordered this "stack of paper" from amazon from england! I really do not like the finish of the paper (thin and glossy) but I managed to find these two prints that fit well with the colors.

and...the "charmed I'm sure" sentiment is a Michael's $1 stamp that I also colored with markers!

Please ignore the poor scissor job on the ribbon ! : )

Hello! I recently joined the HOTP Stamp Set of the Month Club (actually every two months, I think). Anyway, I received my first set last week and was presented with a challenge....these are not at all the types of stamps I would buy on my own! Called Botanicals, they are challenging in that they do not leave a lot of room for coloring. So I rose to the challenge, and decided to try a simple black and white card....here it is!

April (Artistic Paperie) has started this great weekly challenge! That's Inspiring Thursday! She posted a picture and asked her readers to create a card using the photo as inspiration. I immediately thought of this stamp I bought many many many years ago and never had occassion to use.

I also was able to try out some watercolors. I have been away for a week or so, and over the weekend during a trip to State College PA I took along a book from Klutz...Watercolors for the Artistically Undiscovered. I have always been intimidated by watercolors, and this helped me get over that fear!

Check out the challenge and join the fun!

I wanted to do something patriotic, but found I did not have any appropriate paper or stamps. But I did have this in the stash of paper I purchased from April's store, and thought it was close....I like the way this came out, even though these I tough cards to do.

Thanks for visiting!

I was able to get some practice coloring with my daughter's old Prisamcolor pencils (her old rejects!).
